Press conference and screening event of new NHK drama series "Joshiteki Seikatsu"

The press conference and screening event of new NHK drama series "Joshiteki Seikatsu" was held on 15 December in Design Creative Centre Kobe which was attended by cast members Shison Jun, Momoiro Clover Z's Tamai Shiori, Hyunri and Haba Yuuichi. The drama which consists of 4 episodes, will begin its run from 5 January in the Fridays 10pm timeslot. The story is based on the same-titled novel by Sakaki Tsukasa and features Shison as a man who chooses to live as a woman and wants to date a woman rather than a man. While concealing the fact that she is a transgender, she leaves her hometown in the suburbs and works as an OL named Miki in a fashion apparel mail order company at the big city Kobe. She happens to bump into her ex-classmate Goto who is a guy and ends up living together with him.

Shison commented that he was very touched by Miki's never-say-die attitude no matter whatever difficulties she faced and had tried his best to portray a woman in this drama which he thought would be a very sensational piece of work. However, he also felt that women would identify with certain parts of Miki and hoped that the drama will be able to convey its message to as many people as possible.

Tamai who plays Miki's colleague Kaori, said that her character admires Miki both as a woman and colleague but is probably the type that men would like but women would dislike. Although Kaori dresses up to meet the preferences of men and will unwittingly make venomous comments, she works together with Miki during go-kons and has some traits which are bound to make the female audience laugh.
